Colin Moriarty is Megaton's Irish crime boss and the owner of Moriarty's Saloon in 2277.

Contents

[edit] Background

Colin Moriarty was born in 2227 and has lived in Megaton almost his entire life. According to Herbert Dashwood, he came to the former United States as a child.[1] He came to America with his father, who amassed his wealth using the nearby trade routes, which helped secure Megaton as a trading hub in the area. Colin's father died during a raider attack in 2241 and his son inherited his wealth, including the saloon.[2] According to Andy Stahl, Moriarty urinates in his bar's still. Moriarty is also very knowledgeable about information regarding the townspeople, and is always keeping tabs on them in case he needs to blackmail them later. He is also a very proactive businessman, extorting caps from whoever possible.

[edit] Daily schedule

He spends most of his time in the saloon, but occasionally goes outside to smoke, leaning on the rail out in front of the bar.

[edit] Quests

  • Following in His Footsteps: He tells you where your Dad is, and recalls the time he saw you as a child. If you tell Moriarty you don't have 100 caps to buy information on your father, he will ask you to find a woman called Silver and get his money back.

[edit] Effects of player actions

  • If you kill Moriarty, Gob takes over the saloon and changes the name on the sign to Gob's.
  • Once Moriarty is killed, Nova can no longer be hired.

[edit] Other interactions

You can pay Jericho 20 caps to get him to tell you that Moriarty wears a key around his neck that unlocks Gob and Nova's pay stash; however, this key was cut from the game.

[edit] Quotes

  • "I run a saloon kid, information is pen and parcel."
  • "Information is a commodity."
  • "Maybe you could use a drink."

[edit] Notes

  • If, by any means, you are wearing Lucas Simms's sheriff's duster inside the saloon, Moriarty will state "Who do you think you are wearing that badge in here?"
  • Despite being rude and insulting, blackmailing half the town, keeping slaves, treating his workers horribly (Gob implies that he beats him), forcing women into prostitution, and sending the Lone Wanderer to "take care" of former prostitute Silver, Moriarty isn't technically an evil person. As such, you will lose karma for accessing his terminal and/or killing him.
  • Moriarty refers to Jericho as a deadbeat bastard on his terminal.
  • Despite Galaxy News Radio being played in Moriarty's Saloon, Moriarty himself will never acknowledge the Lone Wanderer finding his father.

[edit] Appearances

Colin Moriarty appears only in Fallout 3.

I hear Moriarty even has his own place now. Guess that shouldn't surprise me. That guy had been playing the angles since the day he ended up in this country, as a kid.
